How do I care for my colored lenses?
When we opt for colored lenses, whether with or without correction, it is imperative to take the greatest care of them. Caring for your colored lenses is essential to avoid causing irritation and thus keep your eyes healthy.
Caring for Your Colored Lenses - Step 1: Wash your hands with soap. Remember to dry your hands thoroughly to remove any soap residue.
Caring for Your Colored Lenses - Step 2: Remove the contact lenses from their sterile container. If you have a different prescription for each eye, be careful not to make a mistake!
Caring for Your Colored Lenses - Step 3: Place the colored lens on the tip of your index finger (right or left depending on your preference). Handle the contact lens carefully so as not to damage or turn it over. Make sure the colored lens is hollow-side up and doesn't stick to your finger.
Caring for Your Colored Contact Lenses - Step 4: Lower your lower eyelid while pressing on the base of your eyelashes with the middle finger of the same hand. At the same time, raise your upper eyelid with the fingers of your other hand.
Caring for Your Colored Contact Lenses - Step 5: Place the colored contact lens on your eye and gently close your eyes. The lens will position itself correctly after a few blinks.
Caring for Your Colored Contact Lenses - Step 6: Repeat the previous 5 steps for the other lens contact lenses.
Removing Your Colored Contact Lenses
Removing Your Contact Lenses - Step 1: As with inserting your Colored Contact Lenses, you must wash your hands and dry them thoroughly.
Removing Your Lenses - Step 2: Look up and place your middle finger (right or left, whichever you prefer) under your eye to pull your lower eyelid down.
Removing Your Lenses - Step 3: Touch the colored lens with the index finger of the same hand and slide the lens down toward the bottom of your eye.
Removing Your Lenses - Step 4: With your index finger and thumb, gently press down on the colored lens and remove it. Place the colored lens directly into the multi-purpose contact lens solution. If the expiration date has passed, throw it away.
Removing Your Lenses - Step 5: Repeat the other 4 steps on the other eye.
Removing Your Lenses - Step 6: When you have finished removing your contact lenses, it is imperative to clean them and place them in a contact lens case with multi-purpose solution. Proper care will ensure your colored lenses are comfortable to wear and last a long time.
